Ron Bane is a Division 1 Candidate for Monongalia County Magistrate

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.

Ron Bane for Magistrate is a new face of justice in Monongalia County.

Ron Bane, 54, has officially filed as a Monongalia County Magistrate Court in Division 1. On Monday, January 13, Mr. Bane submitted notarized forms and the requisite $575 filing fee to the Monongalia County Clerk’s Office. Since filing for pre-candidacy in September 2019, Bane has met dozens of citizens and stakeholders across the county gathering input to prepare his upcoming campaign. To-date he’s also invested time to establish his campaign committee – Vote Bane – and position its long term success working with his campaign treasurer, Wes Nugent.

“Over the past four months, I’ve been talking with people across Monongalia County listening to their desires for the future of our community,” said Bane. “People want all levels of government to work together to foster a safe, stable community. My background as a both a local legislator and a professional administrator uniquely enables me with knowledge, skills and abilities well suited to serve our local courts and make a difference in our community in new ways.”

Bane went on to say, “I look forward to running for our local court with the kind of ideas and vigor for which people know me from my previous campaigns. People often know of me from my time with the Morgantown City Council. My goal for this new role is to fairly ensure justice is served for all Monongalia County. During this campaign, I want to continue meeting residents from other municipalities, as well as stakeholders countywide to earn their trust.”

Ron Bane has served our community since 2000.

Mr. Bane served for 16 years as a member of Morgantown City Council, including two terms as Deputy Mayor. He recently concluded 10 years of service with the Morgantown Utility Board and continues to serve Mountain Line Transit Authority as a local resident. Reflecting on his public service, Bane said, “my first step was to bring a leash law to Council and then I served on the Morgantown Traffic Commission, but I never imagined the journey that would result from a simple desire to improve my community.” Of his accomplishments, Bane was hard-pressed to pick a favorite or highlight saying, “my children are my greatest success and though they’re adults now, they’ve always known me in my role as a civic leader. I hope they agree I always strive to make our hometown and community a better place for them as well as everyone else.”

Bane holds a Ph.D., Safety Engineering from Kennedy Western University, a M.B.A. from West Virginia University as well as a M.S. Safety Engineering and a M.S. Safety Management from WVU, and a B.A. in political science from WVU. He previously worked with the WVU Hospitals in a variety of roles, most notably as a safety administrator and a materials manager for more than 20 years before transitioning to work as an operations manager at the WVU Mountainlair.
